In Close's ecosystem
Close was founded in 2013 by Steli Efti, Anthony Nemitz and Thomas Steinacher. It offers a cloud-native sales-engagement CRM that bakes calling, SMS, email, pipeline reporting and an AI-powered Call Assistant into a single, no- code workspace, so startups and SMBs can work the entire funnel without duct-taping extra tools together.
Since launch Close has taken a discipline-first, product-led route: apart from a modest $500 k seed round in 2013, the company has bootstrapped to roughly $17 million in annual recurring revenue, more than 500 paying customers and a fully remote team of about 150 people across 40-plus countries by 2024. Management says the business has remained cash-flow-positive and is in no rush to tap public markets, preferring strategic optionality over a traditional venture track.
Close’s speed and built-in telephony have earned it a 4.7/5 rating from over 1,700 reviews on G2, which again listed the platform as a Leader for Small-Business CRM and Sales Engagement in 2025. With quarterly launches such as Call Assistant, multi-channel Sequences and deep ChatGPT/Zapier integrations, Close continues to punch well above its weight in the crowded SMB CRM market.
